Research Strategy Consulting
A private university in Kazakhstan has embarked on a journey to become a research university and has sought guidance in developing its research strategy and specific policies. This ongoing project focuses on creating a comprehensive research strategy along with a set of accompanying policies. These policies aim to strengthen partnerships between the university’s faculty and scholars worldwide, boost publication productivity, attract external financing, enhance doctoral programs, and improve the university’s rankings.

University Transformation Project
This one-year project involved revising the university’s strategy, restructuring its operations, updating academic programs, and strengthening research capacity. Labor market research was conducted using big data from the largest job search platform, along with interviews with employers and focus groups with alumni, to identify employers’ requirements. The findings from this research informed the revision of programs, course learning outcomes, and teaching methodologies. Program coordinators and academic staff participated in extensive training as part of the project. Toward the completion of the main phase, the consultant was invited to join the university’s board to oversee the implementation of the new strategy.

Market Research for Overseas Investment
This project involved conducting higher and secondary education market research and organizing site visits to support the establishment of a UK university campus in a developing country. The research included a comprehensive market analysis to assess the feasibility of the investment in the target country. Meetings with school management teams and visits to local university campuses were organized to provide the client with firsthand insights into the new market. Additionally, discussions with owners of international schools and school counselors proved instrumental in evaluating the market potential for a foreign university campus. As a result of these efforts, the client successfully launched a new campus in the developing country.

Kairat Moldashev, PhD
Kairat is a scholar and consultant with an entrepreneurial mindset and extensive managerial experience. His research and consultancy projects are aimed at addressing various societal and managerial challenges. Kairat is a proponent of data-driven decision-making and design thinking. He offers consultancy and business development services to organizations in higher education, innovative enterprises, entrepreneurs, and companies in other sectors.

Seminar at University of Melbourne on Strategy Formulation
Delivering a seminar titled “Reconsidering strategic planning in higher education institutions after the pandemic” at the Centre for the Study of Higher Education, University of Melbourne. The seminar is based on interviews with university senior management in a developing country focusing on themes such as the use of foresight, stakeholder involvement, well-being, and digitalization.

Using AI to Teach Data Mining to Business Students
Teaching data visualization to business students with no programming experience using the ChatGPT and Python pair. After a short lecture and practice, students were able to generate code for Google Colab using ChatGPT and visualize data on a country map. The integration of AI into the teaching of the Data Analysis course increases the confidence of students in using platforms such as Python or R for data mining.
